Detroit Michigan: World’s Greatest Place

Detroit Michigan: Time's Magazine World’s Greatest Places 2022 - Breaking News! Time’s magazine just released their list of the world’s greatest places in 2022, and guess what? Detroit is on it. The world’s greatest places list is compiled of Time’s top spots to visit each year.

As they mention, they solicited nominations of places from their international network of correspondents and contributors with an eye toward offering new and exciting experiences.

Detroit Michigan landed a spot on Time Magazine’s greatest places in 2022. For those of you that are thinking this must be a typo, let me take a step back and tell you exactly how this list comes to be.

The world’s greatest places list is compiled of Time’s top spots to visit each year. As they mention, they solicited nominations of places from their international network of correspondents and contributors with an eye toward offering new and exciting experiences.

Some of the other states included in this list are: Utah, Florida, California, Oregon, and of course Michigan.

Detroit has been having some growing pains in the last 10 or so years since filing for bankruptcy, but as Click on Detroit mentions, “travelers can now play a role in the city’s vibrant economic recovery by simply driving through.” On top of that, Detroit was also selected to be the home for the USA’s first electric vehicle charging road, which makes sense, we are the motor city.

To clarify, this isn’t a list of the best states, it’s a list of the whole world. Detroit shares a list with places like Bali, Scotland, Portugal and The Great Barrier Reef.

Downtown Detroit has so much to offer someone from their unique food options and the Detroit riverwalk to some of the new offerings that are in the works such as: What’s kraken’s (a seafood restaurant serving great lakes fish), Basan (a japanese robata restaurant) which I recently learned is the Japanese version of barbeque, an INdian gastropub coming near the eastern market, Byrd (which is a cigar lounge), and Rosemary (which will be a new café). Not only is the food and entertainment scene growing every single day, so is the lodging to provide out-of-staters and out-of-towners an opportunity to experience what the city has to offer. Over 500 new hotel rooms from various developers are underway, and some feature golf simulators, bluetooth mirrors and so much more. And to make sure you never miss an ounce of the city's history, phase 2 of the Motown Museum, is a $55 million expansion you won’t want to miss which includes an outdoor plaza, along with a performing area for entertainers.

What is your first thought after hearing Detroit made Time magazines’ world greatest places in 2022? Drop your thoughts below.

If you’re wanting to see more about what the city of Detroit offers, I will include numerous links in the description below so you can drown yourself in everything they have to offer.
